At least Lemmy doesn’t have a bunch of obnoxious Ohio State and South Carolina fans (yet) to come into Clemson game threads when we’re losing 😅

(We also don’t have any obnoxious Clemson fans yet, thankfully.)

Welcome to the 2022 hangover, Clemson. TCU is there to your left, and Florida to your right.

Just thinking about the blocked fg earlier and the muffed punt just then – are special teams just a little off in week one across the board? I always seem to notice things like that at the start of each season and then they become much more rare

Yeah, I mean think about it. These boys have done a grand total of zero full speed punts and kick returns, and those plays are notoriously physical. Add some rain tonight and it’s not too surprising if you ask me.

Here’s how the logic makes sense to me:

A late hit is a hit after the play is dead. If he were to have slid, stood up, walked towards the sideline, and then been tackled out of no where, that still would’ve been a late hit and I don’t think anyone would say Clemson should get a 1st down for something that happened so long after the play.

So since there is a “too long”, you have to have something thay designates when is too long. And for this, it’s once the play is dead, that’s the description of the penalty.

And for this play, it was dead as soon as he began his slide, by rule. And as soon as the play was dead, it became Duke ball.

And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Committing a penalty after a play is over shouldnt change how that past play worked. Otherwise, it’s like the rule NFL used to have where excessive celebration after a TD could take away the score

Don’t worry, Dabo. Jesus just wanted Duke to win tonight and doesn’t love you anymore.

Well, if it’s any consolation, I hate the combination of the pointy serif D logo and the Gothic “D u k e”. It’s ass and screws up a simple classic aesthetic that should be very hard to screw up. Either go full baseball or no baseball.

It’s mostly the head coach’s sweatshirt and ballcap. They’re each way too stylized to go together.

This will probably be the happiest that Steve Spurrier could ever be about a football game not involving a Florida win.

I don’t know how that kfc commercial made it past focus groups. I want to punch everyone in that commercial with considerable force. Any press is good press I guess?

Assuming this holds up, the Frogs thank you for taking half of the attention for the upcoming media cycle. TCU is now stuck hoping that Coach Prime was an evil genius all along.

I think most Clemson fans are used to it at this point. Another overrated preseason ranking for us. But I have hope that Riley will at least get our offense on the right path.

As someone who hasn’t been following closely … what the hell happened to Clemson? Specifically the offense? They went from championship caliber to wet noodle.

Clemson was so consistent for so long because, unlike most successful teams, they kept their staff together. But then one OC left, then the other, the DC all within a couple years and they started going down. Then DJ played like ass (which could’ve been coaching but still) and they bottomed out. They replaced a lot of coaches and are hoping to come back now.

At least I think that’s what happened.

We kept promoting internally despite continued failure on the field. We had Tony Elliott and then Brandon Streeter as our Offensive Coordinators. We also haven’t recruited well for OL due to hanging on to our OL coach. When Dabo fired Streeter and hired Riley (and our OL coach retired) the entire Clemson fan base rejoiced. Even if we take the L here we at least have some hope which we didn’t have under Elliott or Streeter.
