  • communism is when the government does stuff (vaccine campaigns). /jk

but seriously, i would gamble that the general public has been primed to be distrustful of the government because of all its fuckery and capitalism exploitation with neoliberalism. top that with the corporations and their running dogs/lackeys wanting no covid precautions/fear because it affects revenue when people are taking precautions because of disease, (so they produce anti disease intervention propaganda).

the entire economy runs on treats and buying random shit, so staying home and avoiding going out is bad for business, so the petite bourgeoisie are interested in reproducing this propaganda, and i would gamble most chuds are of this class if not labour aristocrats

i think julia doubleday is some kind of marxist, check out her substack for more materialist orientated analysis (though i don’t think it is explicit, since i think she is doing the whole crypto-marxist to get her work out)

  • i think dessalines made an audiobookabout this?

if you want to read about it.

but something about how christianity really subtly influences us, i guess that it doesn’t really have an influence in right wing structures explicitly because the cultural hegemon is all submissive under the big man like a preacher or something who uses social punishment into silence.

i haven’t read the stuff linked yet, only skimmed - but i would gamble because you come into left leaning spaces without building rapport(spending irl time with them face to face), it is easy to drop people and argue pointlessly with them

  • maybe helpful?

"What are the strategic consequences of decisively rejecting the tripartite social theory advanced by Orwell, and adopting Marx’s all-encompassing one instead? The basic call to action looks something like this:

    1. Stop accusing the masses of being “brainwashed.” Stop treating them as cattle, stop attempting to rouse them into action by scolding them with exposure to “unpleasant truths.”
    2. Accept instead that they have been avoiding those truths for a reason. You were able to break through the propaganda barrier, and so could they if they really wanted to. Many of these people see you as the fool, and in many cases not without reason.
    3. Understanding people as intelligent beings, craft a political strategy that convincingly makes the case for why they and their lot are very likely to benefit from joining your political project. Not in some utopian infinite timescale, but soon.
    4. If you cannot make this case, then forget about convincing the person in question. Focus instead on finding other people to whom such a case can be made. This will lead you directly to class analysis."

You can’t be doing well if it seems like an improvement to base your life and your sense of self on a demonizing slander that you know is only a fantasy. To challenge that fantasy, to identify it as nothing more than that, is to threaten to send them back to whatever their lives were like before they latched onto this desperate alternative.

That suggests to me that if we are to have any hope of disabusing them of their fantasies, then we will need to recommend some third alternative, something other than the lie or the reality that had seemed even worse. https://redsails.org/false-witnesses/

  • i would guess it stems from the desire to rebel against the authority and perceiving the state as unjust, they (correctly) see the capitalist government unjustly enforcing the law on them, and see the communists as doing something similar but under the banner of the hammer and sickle.

i was listening to Matt Christman of Chapo Trap House on the spanish civil war episode, where he talks about how the anarchist ideology came from some russian noble who went to the serfs villages and rebelled against the royalty (iirc) - i guess it would make sense to the anarchist that they see communists as something akin to royalty in regards of the structures of authority.

it makes sense to me i guess, i think about all the media produce with marvel superheros and stuff - so i presume the anarchists see all forms of authority as bad, and see sides as good and bad as oppose to people acting in material interests. especially when the authority in america like the police fuck with people so badly it polarises people to be staunch anti structure framework kind of mindset
