  • I apologize but I’m finding it tougher and tougher to want to hold dialogue with someone who is skeptical of seemingly everything.

Skepticism is healthy and should be exercised whenever the situation calls for it, but it’s also tiring when the footwork is minimal to disprove it. This is not aimed solely at you; we’ve tried to be as transparent as possible and last week it’s suggested perhaps we allowed a vulnerability to be exploited to push communities on people and everything is always met with this air of disbelief. Soren works full time and made this because he believes it’s necessary in his offtime, for you. I work full time and try to assist with the social aspect of it because I believe in him and this. I only try to do things to make it easier or better, or clearer for people – that’s it. There isn’t even a point to trying to have an ulterior motive here.

  • He owns it outright doesn’t he?

Others own equity, approximately 1/3 of the initial payment he made was from some of his close friends. Close friends or not, they’re not going to let him off the hook for about 7b, additionally he could not afford to pay them if he shuts it down, he had to borrow between 2 and 3 billion to secure the deal in the first place beyond what they’d invested.

If Twitter becomes profitable, they get paid and everyone on their side is happy. If Twitter doesn’t become profitable, Elon is the one that takes the fall and they get paid anyway so they don’t care, although I’m sure they’d prefer more than their investment back.

  • Being completely transparent, the Wii sounded like the worst idea ever to me when it came out. I didn’t expect motion controls to work properly (which I was wrong about) or that they could make enough reasons for it to be something more marketable (something I was half right about.) What I didn’t expect is the niche markets, the Wii fitness people, the Wii sports enjoyers, to do so much heavy lifting. VR, playing or watching, gives me extreme motion sickness. The market has only grown since things like Half-Life:Alyx was so good.

While I agree with your skepticism, there will be a market for things like this.

I can and have removed both comments and posts from lemmy.world due to reports made here. I banned a user from this instance, not lemmy but I don’t know how it handles bans from other instances and I would like to keep it that way. I receive reports about other instances from users made in this one, not from other instances about this one or other instances about other instances.

Edit: Just confirmed that a post I removed from lemmy.ml is removed for myself while logged out and in another browser, so I am able to remove posts elsewhere. This is a personal fear of mine, as an admin with less than reputable honor could decide one day that they don’t like the word ‘birthday’ for instance and remove anything with that word in it. I understand the idea behind it but humanity has shown that it cannot be responsible enough when granted power.

It is an intended feature per request.

For some reason pinning messages gets put in the modlog and anytime we take adminstrator actions, it also shows up. If you report a comment or a post on another instance, it’s elevated to us because we’re the admins of here which I personally do not like but oh well. Everyone here behaves so I’ve only ever had to remove comments from our stinky brethren.

I banned someone for reporting mildly offensive stuff after being inflammatory to people on lemmy.world. It’s one thing if someone’s being a butt to request you remove their comments, it’s another to antagonize them and then report them. I don’t know if anything’s been removed as far as posts here.
