My guess is you want high end places in very specific parts of town. Yeah you’ll pay more… Doesn’t mean $1500 rentals are over.
Most cases places aren’t going to give you a local price on an unfurnished place for 6 months as a foreigner, no residency, no rental history, credit, co-signer etc. Difficult or damn near impossible to set up utilities in most cases, etc.
Even, then, the savings are a lot less than people think - don’t compare to what your cleaning lady/taxi driver pays when your Airbnb is an exclusive area etc. I finally set up my own apartment in Medellin, for an extra $100-200/month I could have just had everything set up, not spend the $ on furniture, etc.
Corporate finance/accounting executives bouncing around hostels? Don’t believe it for a second.
Anyone promoting some easy way to make internet monies is full of shit, and that is their way to try to scrape by (selling courses, being an influencer, scamming etc.)
99% of jobs in the US want nothing to do with some guy who is going to be bouncing around the world from Airbnb to Airbnb.
Depends on what your expectations are / what kind of deal you find / if you have a significant other that works.
My gf and I both teach online and have no issue in Mexico City - even in a beautiful apartment in Hipodromo Condesa. If you’re by yourself making $10/hr? Yeah, probably won’t be in a good neighborhood.
Get a good job, work for a few years and take off. You should probably at least wait and see if you get the green card.
Sounds like an advertisement for websites no one has ever used.
Long term whether it’s dollars or not doesn’t make things expensive. It provides stability.
Ecuador has used dollars how long ? Still one of the most affordable countries in LATAM.
Dollar just provides stability. It doesn’t change the countrys economics overnight.
I’m heading to Argentina in January
Yeah of course you can get by as a backpacker in Latin America on $1000 wherever you go. People who need to sort out their income/ work generally have different needs though - and everything adds up.
I usually find the site for the airport and check who flies the routes I am interested in. In some parts of the world, there are airlines that wont get aggregated to Skyscanner.
I also sign up for the email list on the airlines I will potentially use or follow on twitter or IG for sales - especially this time of the year.
I’d imagine South East Asia.
You could probably make that budget work in some parts of Latin America w/ a simpler life.
If you want permission, ask… otherwise do your best to hide your travel.
You can’t do 99% of that cool stuff without a car and spending $500-1000/weekend just on those little side trips.
Probably just stick with the web design. Identify a specific niche or two and then knock out the sites quickly for a low price.
