The authorization does not mean a strike will happen immediately and both sides could reach a deal. If a strike does happen, it would be the first at Disneyland in 40 years.

The bargaining committee said it is committed to negotiations on Monday and Tuesday, but said the strike authorization allows it to call a strike at any time.

Go too far into pessimism and you essentially become anti-socialist. One of the fundamental beliefs in this worldview is that workers can come together to force concessions from owners - of course the owners have a lot of tricks up their sleeves, but while Wal Mart corp might be able to shut down one of their hundreds of stores, Disney can’t do the same thing with one of the only twelve Disney parks in existence, nor can they scab 14,000 people.
