Been a while since I read it, but I liked it a lot. The art is great and is one of the touchstones of the Shoujo genre for a reason. The political intrigue is all well done too. IMO it manages to walk the tightrope between humanizing Louis and Marie without being apologia for them - you get a sense for why things kept getting worse under their rule (I mean if I had become the King of France at age 19 I probably would have fucked things up too), but in the end when they go to the guillotine it doesn’t portray the revolutionaries as evil for demanding justice.
