:sicko: is the format right? But when I use it in posts or comments it never works. Is it because I’m on a mobile app (jerboa)?
the :words: thing brings up an autocomplete (on browser) that converts it to the new inline image format that had to be used for federation to work
if you aren’t getting the autocomplete then yeah, it won’t work sadly
Does your comment box have the small :) icon on jerboa?
If you click that, it should give you a drop down selector for emojis. If there’s a search bar you can hunt there (no need to add ::s this way). Or click the asterix above the search to get past the default ones to the Hexbear custom ones and select manually.
It does not 😔
Oh damn. Well, if .world are going to introduce emojis and enough of their userbase use jerboa, maybe it’s something the devs will look at some time soon. (idk talking out of my arse just tryna be hopeful?)
I can copy emojis from source text on other posts like this ![marx-joker](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/e03eb568-1549-4d5a-b288-65c7df19dd8e.png “emoji marx-joker”
Deleted a closed parenthesis at the end
What happens if you type :sicko-yes: rather than just :sicko:?
:sicko-yes:
skill issue, though not your fault. You’re gonna have to memorise each and every one without a suggest function.
godspeed comrade o7
Probably the app. When you type in : and begin to add letters it should give you a pop-up list of emojis with that word.
I think it’s the app 😔
I agree. I’m on an app too, though I’m using Connect. When I use the code to put an emoji in my comments:
-
if the comment is both written and viewed from Connect, it won’t show up for me
-
if the comment originates on the web and is viewed in Connect, the emoji will show up.
-
if the comment is written in Connect and viewed from the web interface, it also will show up.
So, I memorize the ones I like, then if I have any doubts, I check the comment on the web to see if it worked. Or jump over to the web interface to look them up if I can’t remember the names, and just comment there where I can check that it worked.
Idk, I feel like writing all this out is an invitation for the “Why are you using an app?!?” inquisition, but hopefully this time they come with not just questions but also tips and tricks for customizing the browser interface that help me break my app addiction.
Edit - also, feel I should mention: the only emoji from you in this thread that shows up for me properly is the Marx one you posted the long image code for. Test time - can you see mine? :party-blob:
Gonna create a notepad with emojis on it
I can’t see yours and the only one I’ve posted that was meant to work was the joker marx

It’s the app, I think this is a web only feature
:sicko-yes: is the name of the emoji btw, typing that in should work
E.g. :sicko-yes:
