COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The owner of a Colorado funeral home and his wife were arrested Wednesday in Oklahoma on charges linked to the discovery of 190 sets of decaying remains at one of their facilities, including some that apparently had been languishing there for four years.

Definitely bizarre and horrible. I wonder why they decided to do this - strapped for cash? Just scammers? How did they expect to get away with just storing bodies in a room? So It would be Colorado Springs.

I was wondering what these psychos looked like and found this article:

It’s fulfilling for the Hallfords and Mosley to help people better understand their options and to honor the last wishes of the deceased and their loved ones.

Oh, sure, I bet. A shame as it’s a decent concept to avoid embalming - pumping people full of formaldehyde that eventually leeches into groundwater is a pretty bad idea.

I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt before all the details came out, thinking maybe they just got behind and then things spiralled, but the full list of charges makes me think scammers or a ton of debt. Either way, it seems like this will be the push CO needs to finally start regulating the funeral industry like everyone else does.

Not a Colorado thing. A US thing. Having spent most of my life outside the US, I can tell you that most people in other developed countries often shake their heads in disbelief at US events and news stories. And it’s not getting any better.

Not saying there aren’t crazies in other countries. The nutbag stories originating in the US are just overwhelming in sheer amount.

But it seems to be. As a CO resident and native, as progressive as we are as a state we are, we sure have some weirdos.

I’m often surprised at the amount of backwoods and Racist things I hear about about the state on social media. I’ve visited neighboring states but I’ve not quite made it to CO yet. Hopefully those media pieces are just overblown?
