Looks like another bright sunshiny day to be a Canadian, ey? Especially if you're a Canadian porch pirate, because apparently the authorities are on your side when you get caught red handed with that Amazon box in your hands.
I stand by every word. I just don’t think I’m going to convince any conservative morons. Furthermore, I don’t want to contribute to the growth of this very very sad community. It’s embarrassing how poorly the posts do.
The one responding to a deleted post and then calling me a coward, for one. You are in that exact thread. Its sad and pathetic to see the hate in the posts hidden behind comments of “well I said it nicely so how can you even say its uncivil”.
I find I tend to give more leeway to those who have posted here before in good faith. Eli fits that bill, as does you. I don’t think Derek has ever posted here before (correct me if I’m wrong), and his first comment (that he didn’t delete) was calling us morons.
You know how you said you were interested in how this community would develop? Well, I think I’ve started learning how to be a decent mod. I’ve learned from users like TJD and Karo. If they start out being uncivil, they’ll probably continue being uncivil.
Too much of a coward to stand by your tough talk, Derek?

The posts “do poorly” because brigadiers are mass downvoting them.
Maybe the brigaders vote this way because they think the posts aren’t welcome here. You should not tolerate the intolerance, after all.
I’m quite glad to see it.
Differing opinions are valued here. Trolls are not.
If someone is acting in good faith, I look forward to the conversation. They might be surprised how much we agree on.
Exactly the same thought. No notes. If this community is civil, posts will do well.
Can you link to some comments you find to be uncivil in this community?
(nope)

I would appreciate it if you kept it civil. If you don’t wish to contribute, then please, don’t.
But I do wish to contribute. :)
How is it that calling somebody a coward is considered civil, but calling a group a bunch of morons not?

Selectively applying the rules is a recipe for disaster.
Maybe, and if it is, I’ll learn then. But discretion is a thing in real life, and it seems to work semi-successfully.
How are you certain it’s cowardice and not a case of “fuck it, it isn’t worth the effort of arguing”?
That was indeed part of it. What can you do if people want to pull up deleted comments and spread hate?
