It’s expensive. And, a lot of times people are inconsiderate. There are bad smells. Sticky floors. Screaming children. Can’t pause and go to the refrigerator or bathroom.

A lot of people like it. Maybe you will, too. Try it. But, I prefer to stay home and wait to watch movies in the comfort of my own home.

How expensive is it where you are? I’m not in the west and cinema costs me USD 5-10. Which means I can easily watch one or two every week

I used to have a subscription for about ~17 a month, all 2D shows were free, 3D cost a couple bucks and discounts on IMAX. Also discounts on food.

AMC A List is good if you want to see at least two movies a month. A group of friends and I all have it and we see movie once a week.

I feel similar and here I pay about 11€ for a movie, 14€ if it’s 3D (which most available viewings are) and any popcorn and drink is also overpriced. Though I would say I could afford it technically, the bigger factor for me avoiding the cinema is the other people. I had too many shitty experiences in my life with people hitting my seat, being loud, being ill and coughing the whole movie, stinky people, etc

Where I live it’s not crazy expensive, but it’s definitely not throwaway money, though if the price is a consideration, it’s probably better image and sound quality than what you can get at home (assuming it’s a nice one, I have one in my city that has awful audio)

Something tells me there probably won’t be screaming children at an Oppenheimer screening lol

I don’t go often but I haven’t had a bad movie theater experience since…the 2000s maybe? Then again, I generally only see movies “made for” cinema so the audience demographic is skewed

There was screaming children at the van Gogh exhibition, I wouldn’t put it past some to bring them to see Oppenheimer.
