I am a reddit refugee. Let me share my opinion, if you care for it. You, the ml instance, have been here from the start. You are a solid community of likeminded people, but your ideologies are on the far left side of the spectrum. That means that they are less relatable to the common public. With the influx of the reddit refugees, you got an influx of a lot of “common people”. I’m pretty sure that the common people outnumber you now. The issue now is that .ml is a default instance, so a lot of these people came to this instance for refuge and found you and your ideology and were overwhelmed by the extremism of it all. You probably even scared off a few of them. These refugees felt unwelcomed and now resent you for it. I think that’s the core of it. The other issue now is that these refugees want to expand and grow their communities. You’re still here, still default with the biggest reddit-like communities and still scaring off newcomers with your ideologies. So you stand in the way of their wish for growth. And that’s exactly the situation where conflict happens.
