the right starts to assume it’s okay that you’re next

But they already do, so I second queermunist - why lick the boot already stomping on your neck?

“The right” isn’t a monolith, they have different tolerance levels, different triggers that enable or excuse worse behavior, changing with the norms of the particular Overton window and with the boundaries of “acceptable discourse.” When what is “acceptable discourse” degrades, it enables worse behavior. So at any given moment, some right-wingers are almost crazy enough to start killing, and presumably the strength of our norms is a part of that.

Note that none of this is about what is “justified.” Sure, it’s justified to act as badly as these bigots. But it doesn’t help, it just accelerates the spiral towards fascist conflict.

Is it really bootlicking to say “back I don’t think it was cool to assassinate Trump”?

      I mean it’s a lie but bootlicking?

Pretending like being civil to a literal nazi is reasonable is bootlicking too.

Ahh yes wrongthink to even have a discussion here that wasn’t one that would have the fbi knocking at my door

Ps - there’s worlds of difference between saying political violence is wrong and “lol fuck John mccain even though he died” because he was barely decent human garbage like the rest of his ilk. I don’t think encouraging political violence is necessarily on the same level
