Not requiring an email is going to increase the moderation workload on the admins since it will become a prime target for spammers and trolls, and if not adequately moderated the instance might get defederated from the major instances.

One of the benefits of Reddit is not requiring an email address, but it probably scrapes your IP address to make sure you don’t spam or ban evade.
By contrast, Lemmy makes it really easy for bad actors to ban evade AND scrape way more of your data than Reddit had.
With that said, try an email generating service and you’ll be on your way to using Lemmy however you want.
