Hey everyone, I’ve been a DACA recipient since the program started in the Obama years and have held it since, but I’m anticipating it will be terminated under Trump. I’m going to stop the funding to my work 401k and placing all expendable funds in my HYSA (high yields savings account) for the time being. If it ends up being the case I have to go back to my native country I don’t anticipate finding work will be too difficult given that I’m bilingual and have specialized certifications for my career and I can stay with my grandparents. (presumably for as long as I need but I will be reaching out to them) I think there’s a very very low likelihood we’re going to be allowed to continue with the program or given a pathway to accessing a green card/citizenship, so I’m planning for the worst here. Is anyone else in a similar boat? Have any backup plans? Any thoughts you’d like to share? Let’s discuss.

I might be a rarity at Hexbear and Hexbears can call me crazy but I think Trump’s deportation plans will actually happen. Millions of people over his term? I don’t know. But next year I bet 100,000s of people will be arrested and then held in camps next year. I think those camps will be awful (if not hellholes) with unchecked violence and r*pe.

It’s worth mentioning that the GOP SCOTUS immunity ruling enables Trump to strip anyone of citizenship and/or deport anyone at any time for no reason other than he says it’s an official act. The ruling is horrific. Anyone can also be jailed, tortured, or killed. The one constant that Trump loves to do is destroying anything related to Obama. I assume DACA recipients are targets for arrest. And unlike the undocumented - Trump’s administration will have reams of information on the recipients.

People can call me paranoid but if I was a DACA recipient I’d want to leave the US very soon so I wouldn’t have any chance of ending up stateless for an unknown period of months (or who knows how long) in one of those vile camps.

Is that a rarity on hexbear? I do think people here can downplay the danger of him too much but hopefully not to that extent. He did heinous stuff to immigrants last time and no doubt will again.

As for op ya, I don’t have any advice. Someone at the People’s Forum talk earlier tonight about immigration, so I’d maybe check it out and see if any names pop up for organizations you can look into to help you out.

He managed to wipe out the equivalent of Dallas last time accidentally, so… I don’t think it’s crazy to assume he’ll deport anybody. Hell, he already promised to deport actual US citizens (“anchor babies”).

Yeah, he is gonna do it right off the bat. And DeSantis and Abbott and their ilk will be happy to play along. Plus it will be a fun fight for him to have with Dem governors like Newsom.

Remember that this time 8 years ago people were saying he wouldnt do a muslim ban really but he did do that within a week iirc

He wont be very successful im terms of raw numbers of deportations but he will cause harm and stoke fear.
