As an atheist who was raised Christian I’m torn.

On one hand, God dies not take kindly to charlatans and blowhards. On the other hand, I am of the belief that this life is all there is and shitty people like her are statistically unlikely to get some cosmic comeuppance after death

Right, that’s the thing they don’t get. Might surprise them to learn, I almost wish their beliefs were true, so that they might taste that eternal fire they wish on others for their own shitty actions and thoughts

As an atheist, I wish we could have a rapture so the rest of us could get on with our lives

Depends. Do the people they think are saved go, or is it people who actually follow Jesus’ teachings? The former would be great, but the latter would mean losing some good people.

Sam here all around, it’s unfortunate that she won’t get punished for being a huge POS. She’s just going to live life convinced she’s some oppressed and just individual.

?? Is this sarcasm? An atheist is someone who hears the god claims different religions are making, sees there is no evidence for any of it, and logically concludes they do not believe any gods are real.

Whether you believe in a god or gods has nothing to do with any of your other beliefs. The term atheism refers simply to the rejection of the claim that gods exist. Many atheists believe many different things outside of that core question. Most follow logic and scientific evidence to come to their conclusions but that is not necessarily a requirement.

I can’t speak for mfanx2, but I believe in myself. I’m the one that I have to live with for the rest of my life.

You seem to be under the impression that people have to believe in something. It’s just not true. Unfortunately, religions hammer this into people from an early age, so it’s difficult to break out of the mindset.

I cant imagine you give yourself meaning in life. What makes you think you are better than anybody?

LOL what? Where are you getting that? I never said I was a god or something.

I simply recognize that I have to live with myself for the rest of my life, and that guides my actions.

Also, suddenly, I’m remembering why I had drifted away from commenting on Lemmy.
