I just want to know what you people are doing to your fast food over in America that is giving people diarrhoea so reliably. Every time I hear people from the US talk about places like Taco Bell, someone inevitably mentions its catastrophic effect on their stomach.

Why is that accepted as normal?!

We have Taco Bell in the UK too and it’s… fine? I eat out or order food at least once a week and I could count on one hand the number of times I’ve EVER had food poisoning, but apparently over in America it’s basically guaranteed?? What in the absolute fuck is going on over there?

Pre existing condition they might have from eating unhealthy, addictive food like Taco Bell

For what it’s worth, American food protection regulations are pretty flimsy compared to ours. IIRC they have a 10-fold incidence rate of food poisoning compared to us.

Taco Bell here in the US probably uses much lower quality beef, and lower quality everything based on what they can get away with under food safety regulations which are probably not as strict as in other countriese. Also some people don’t tolerate the spicy hot sauce and or the grease very well.

Now I’m curious, can someone who has had both comment if the hot sauces are equally hot in the UK and US?

That’s been my assumption when people talk about stomach pain and diarrhea from Taco Bell, Chipotle, Qdoba, etc. I eat plenty of Mexican food at good and bad places and have never had any issues like that. But I also eat a decent amount of beans normally.

Taco Bell came to New Zealand just a few years ago and I haven’t tried it because of it’s American reputation, but I’m not really sure why that’s stopped me. If the consequences for eating it are as bad as people say, the whole franchise around NZ would have been shuttered already for food safety violations.

The Mexican Pizza, 5 layer burrito, and if they have it The Meximelt are all delicious and very representative of the rest of the menu.

Chalupas are good, but I’m pissed they took the Gordita off the menu. It’s the same exact thing as a Chalupa, just without frying the flatbread.
