The Wisconsin Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments Monday in a case pushed by Democrats to overturn a ruling that all but eliminated the use of absentee ballot drop boxes in the swing state.

The court’s ruling will come within three months of the Aug. 13 primary and within six months of the November presidential election. A reversal could have implications on what is expected to be another razor-thin presidential race in Wisconsin.

President Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in Wisconsin by just under 21,000 votes in 2020, four years after Trump narrowly took the state by a similar margin.

Since his defeat, Trump had claimed without evidence that drop boxes led to voter fraud. Democrats, election officials and some Republicans argued the boxes are secure.

not sure why we need all this extra nonsense… we have a postal service that is incredibly efficient and has its own police force. why are we reinventing the wheel?

      Here’s a paper

Some voters prefer to deliver their mail ballots to a drop box rather than sending them back through the mail. These voters may be motivated by lack of trust in the postal process, fear that their ballot could be tampered with, or concern that their signature will be exposed. Voters may also be concerned about meeting the postmark deadline and ensuring that their ballot is returned in time to be counted.

Ballot drop boxes and drop-off locations allow voters to deliver their ballots in person. More importantly, the availability of ballot drop boxes and drop-off locations ensures that even voters who wait until the last minute to vote or who receive their requested ballot in the mail at the last minute will be able to return their ballots in time to be counted.

Many of these last-minute voters drop their ballot off at a voting location (which may not be allowed by state law). Setting up ballot drop boxes and educating voters to use them mitigates a number of COVID-19-related risks associated with in-person voting. It also minimizes the number of people that will need to access voting locations, thereby providing more space for those who are engaged in in-person voting

And Biden still has not appointed governors to get him removed. He has had the opportunity to do so for the last two years.

Just a reminder that Biden could have easily had him replaced by now. The nine board of governors vote on the Postmaster General and no more than five can be from the same party. Currently there are two vacancies. The make up of the governors is 3 Republicans, 3 Democrats, and 1 independent. The last governor that was appointed by Biden was a Republican about two years ago. He can easily appoint two Democrats right now and get DeJoy booted. It is insane that he has not.

I’m painfully aware of that, but try telling one of the blindly loyal party soldiers who pretend he can do no wrong 🤦

Yup. Must be one of his owner donors keeping him from doing so. Maybe he and the rest of the Dem leadership don’t actually mean it when they say that they’ll fight against Republican attempts to sabotage elections 🤔

Some wi cities reroute all mail thru st Paul MN. It’s infinitely more efficient and better chain of custody for drop boxes.

USPS is not that efficient. Also, they literally make it impossible to stop spam. They are like Microsoft putting ads in with your regular mail.
