Just signed up today with my favourite 3rd party app biting the dust tomorrow.
So far it’s taken a bit of getting used to, but I quite like the look of the thunder app with Lemmy. Be keen to keep an eye out for kbin apps too.
Looks pretty quiet here though. Going to miss the ‘why is there a helicopter over my suburb?’ posts
Don’t worry a few of us will still be here suggesting that you drop acid in the botanical gardens, just like the good old days.
Lmao this comment made me want to do acid again even though it’s been years… I gave up everything else but theres something different about a trip…
Don’t do it, wink.
Sad how is getting gutted like that. Meanwhile you can get the Apollo carbon copy it’s called WefWef.
Wefwef looks interesting, but is that apple only or am I a n00b?
Anyone can use it.
On Android it’s like cheating on your spouse.
Feels like I’m cheating on my spouse with my ex and have just remembered why she became my ex.
I laughed. Good one.
Nevermind. I was being a noob. Figured it out. Also can’t figure out how to edit posts.
EDIT: figured out how to edit. Wefwef is pretty bloody good
The web app is based on the Apollo that started this whole protest after all, and it still doesn’t have all its functions yet, but it’s amazing. So glad Android users get to try it. And with how Lemmy is ramping up, I’m finding myself more active here than in Reddit by magnitudes of order. It just feels like the early days of the internet.
@Demigod787 now if it only worked for kbin :(
It just looks like an iOS app… And as an Android user, it’s disgusting.
Yep. I was initially excited because it had extra functionality but after further reading, thunder is in the process of implementing those features and is a much nicer app
I hope the guy who was sleeping rough in the valley has made it over to a fed instance.
From what I saw, there were a few folk on the sub looking out for him and I’d hate to see that link to a supportive community disappear for him.
Pretend you’re from Melbourne and post over there.
Yah, Melbourne
subcommunity seems to be the most active. It’s strange that Brisbane is the top community though. Must be an error. Melbourne is killing it. Damn lefties.
Melbourne is killing it. Damn lefties.
You mean those lefties in a city with just one federal Greens representative? 😉
Latte-sipping makes you left.
I’m more of a flat white guy, but definitely left.
This is a centrist position.
I had to give up coffee and now only drink hot chocolate. Where does that place me on the coffee-political spectrum?
Melbourne leftie on holiday in Mooloolaba signing in… Come join us. Rules are 1. Don’t be a dick head 2. be excellent to each other
They went pretty hard for the reddit protest I think. Looks like a lot of people jumped over and stayed.
I was wondering what sort of helicopter it was…
The answer is always PolAir
Not really. I used to mod /r/brisbane, but basically stopped interacting with reddit around 6 months ago. I’ve been on the fediverse and threadiverse ever since!
Yeah I got no clue what I’m doin’
Edit: I just realized this is for Australia, not my place. Ah g’day friends.
@Previous everyone’s welcome in Brisbane :)

Brisbane is a capital city of a state in Australia
I can see why we need to do branding work for the 2032 Olympics now
And a really nice one, too. It’s on my travel list.
Going to miss the ‘why is there a helicopter over my suburb?’ posts
Be the change you want to see in the world! :)
The fontpage moves pretty fast though. Just think of it as a jumble of Australia-wide posts.
I’ve already apologised for that.

There’s a heap of changes and improvements happening behind the scenes in kbin. I’m keenly looking forward to the new API so everyone can integrate with it easier.
Great community here, love to see it
Same. I like that kbin is trying to build the full integration part, finding a way to have a single interface to browse and interact with both mastodon and lemmy on the same “platform”. I will watch with interest.
At this stage, it seems not quite intuitive enough for me yet, probs because I never used twitter and it still seems strange as a social platform model.
Also new here but not to Lemmy. My last instance has taken a dive recently and is painfully slow, so starting fresh on aussie.zone.
