I mean, yeah, if I I were into collecting sneakers and had the money, I’d totally do it for the meme.

Maybe auction them off once they sell out and donate the proceeds to some lgbt/minority/feminist org?

I mean, fuck it, most revenue he’s going to make off of them was around half a mil anyway iirc.

What good is auctioning them off to help people’s rights when you help Hitler 2 ascend to crush all people’s rights?

Your comment is disappointing as hell to read.

I was operating off of the (now shown to be correct) assumption that they would sell out anyway because he has enough braindead followers to buy up the limited quantity of sneakers, and/or the whole thing is a scam to bypass some campaign finance law or another, and the actual impact of the decisiontof an individual to buy them would be negligible.

As Newsweek points out, the “Never Surrender High-Tops” are shiny gold high tops with an American flag on the back, and have since sold out on the website they were promoted on.

Wouldn’t that be a pretty terrible way of laundering money though since inventory and sales are pretty easy to verify? Like how would one inject dirty money that would wouldn’t be blantly obvious?

You overpay for a trash product not because you’re willing to buy the product at that price, because you believe that is what it is worth, but because an investigator can’t prove you were just doing it to transfer funds.

For another example, all these political talking heads pumping out a ghost written book no one will read that sell out immediately and make the best seller list because a PAC buys all the copies.

I don’t think that’s what’s happening here though. A thousand sneakers at $400 isn’t hard math, and while that’s a lot of money on a personal level it’s nothing to a man that just ate a $300 million fraud judgement.

While I agree with your intent there actually is a Fox entertainment that’s owned by Disney and is not in any way currently connected to the trash fire that is Fox News. Fox News was spun off into its own thing while the rest of Fox that isn’t dedicated to Republican propaganda was sold to the highest bidder which happened to be Disney.

I think they were referring to the fact that they got in trouble or something for calling it news? I don’t exactly remember, but I remember hearing something about them having to change it to Fox entertainment because it couldn’t be considered news since it was all opinion bullshit. I am probably wrong about this but the good thing about the internet is if I am someone will correct me quickly.

Actually, they made the argument in court that they are not in the news business. Even said that any reasonable person would know it’s satire.

The channel name wasn’t changed, it’s still Fox News. They got in trouble for running opinion pieces in the middle of their news segments, and referring to some of their non-news people like Tucker Carlson as reporters and pieces they ran as news reports.

It was all tied in with the Dominion lawsuit and related cases around that time where a big chunk of their defense basically boiled down to “those things were said for entertainment purposes and were clearly exaggerations and hyperbole, no sane person would believe insert blatant but typical Fox News bullshit here”.

The plaintiff rightfully pointed out that if you present “opinions” alongside your so called news without clearly calling them out as opinions, many people (and pretty much every last regular Fox News viewer) will assume you’re making factual statements.

Among other things, as part of the settlement Fox News also needs to have fact checkers present during their news segments to call them on their bullshit which has led to some hilarious clips lately where the muppets pretending to be reporters get absolutely demolished by the fact checker in real time.

Fox Entertainment is actually not owned by Disney, its the parts of 20th Century Fox Studios Disney couldn’t acquire or want. And Disney has dropped “Fox” from 20th Century Studios, owing to Fox News.

Hmm, I didn’t realize it had been split in three instead of two. Looking at the Wikipedia page it seems like the only property of any real note that they own is Cops. The history of sales rebrands and acquisitions is convoluted, but the simplified version seems to be Fox corp spun off their original assets into two companies, 21st Century Fox and News Corp, with all the entertainment properties ending up in the former, and Fox News and a few other misc things ending up in the later. Then Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, sliced it up, spun the bits they didn’t want off as Fox Entertainment, and rebranded all the pieces they wanted to keep to remove the name Fox from them.

Very few look at Biden as anything more than a, “Block Trump from office” vote. People aren’t voting for biden, they are voting for the only one who stands a chance at being elected when pit against Trump

I think we’re all pretty bummed that we “have to” vote for Biden. He sucks. He’s also the candidate of a party in a 2 party system. We have no choice. It is a shitty system. I’m confident that in a more democratic system of representation (abolish the electoral college, implement ranked-choice voting, etc) we would all spend considerably more time talking about “the best” candidates that match our views most closely, but unfortunately in this country there’s really not much point.

Why isn’t he marketing to us Jews? I want two-for-the-price-of-one pennies!

When I see how many of my relatives are actually considering voting for this monster, the question answers itself. I’m simply stunned seeing Jews defend a man who openly supports Hitler.

Look, I’m all for people feeding their faces to leopards. The problem is that they leave their freaking front door open and then their leopard starts eating everyone’s face in the neighborhood. Some people just aren’t happy until the leopards have nothing left to feed on.
