I encourage a discussion about the recent conflicts inside the party, how that might impact the party moving forward, and what can be done to prevent this divide.

    We may be heading towards another civil war. While people like to think slavery was the only cause of the war, it was more complicated than that. We have many different cultures and sometimes those cultures collide. I am a small government Republican, which means I support abortion as the government should stay out of an adult’s medical care. I am not religious, and I’m not too fond of the mixing of abortion and religion. While I respect religions and do attend mass on occasion, I do not want your sky God dictating what I can do with my body.

    The problem is both parties are spewing things that don’t really solve anything.

        No I’m in the right party. I’m not a rabid racist like the democrats. I’m against large government. I’m against wages theft through taxation.

          You must be really old if you can recall a time when democrats discriminated against people based on race. ;-) Parties change. The modern GOP is all about big government, control of people, censorship, and racism.

          But, your answer said all I need to know about your actual position.

            They still do. They just dress it up and call it diversity now-a-days. Just look at college admissions for a good example.

                  Well, I think college admission should be done entirely by a computer, that simply takes that person‘s transcripts and accomplishments, and what not, to decide if they are accepted. Not human interaction.

                  But I can understand how a white person might feel disappointed if they had to go to a less convenient college because their first pick didn’t have any more slots.

                  I suppose we should be sure the balance of men and women isn’t taken into consideration too?

                  What about scholarships based on financial need? If a college wanted to accept a certain number of people on scholarships per year, that might cut the open slots for wealthy while males.

                    Not just white people, Asians are the most affected by Affirmative Action.

                    I know it’s not possible to be perfect (There are idiots and assholes in every large group, including college admissions), but imo effort should be made to be race and sex blind. Right now, effort is being made to the opposite.

            The democrats still discriminate against people based on race. It’s a core part is their platform.

            And no, you have the gop wrong. Covid proved that the gop wasn’t about control. They let people make informed decisions about their health. The democrats wanted to force vaccinations and mask on everyone.
