Yeah sure, clear more land for development, Australia, it’s not like the lack of trees will dry everything out and raise temperatures in a place that is already dangerously hot. What’s a heat island? Oh, look, fire!

Oh, you didn’t even clear those trees for anything important planned and just stuck up a sign saying “new industrial opportunities!” Boy, that sure was worth cutting into a previously protected forest and killing a bunch of endangered koalas and quolls for!

Oh look, the slop warehouse you replaced that native forest with has a koala for a logo! We sure love our national icons! I wonder where all the real koalas went?

agony-shivering

They’re not idiots, they’re just ghouls that value their interests. It may appear short sighted, but I think the pandemic showed this too, how you can’t even use the bourgeois state to preserve capitalism because that means admitting that using the state to benefit proles was always an option, and that threatens them both short and long term.

I used to look around at my peers in high school and have the sudden realization that, oh shit, one day we’re going to have to run this society and be the parents and leaders and teachers and whatever. This realization struck fear into my heart.

Now that my generation is older and becoming parents and leaders and teachers and whatever, yeah I do not have any more trust in these people than I did in high school, tbh probably less.

Currently stuck in a walled bougistani compound in the arid, exotic deserts of so-cal and I can report the people running this planet are the most banal idiots you can imagine. It’s bad enough seeing all the destruction wrought, and then you see what they actually bought with their blood money and it’s just the most banal shit imaginable. They’re doing all this horrible shit and they’re not even having fun.

There are no adults in the room. Any interpretation of the world that imagines a hyper capable cabal of elite individuals pulling the puppet strings is too optimistic. It’s a poorly organized mass of individuals chasing down the rewards from perverse incentive matrices that ultimately cause more harm to both themselves and the world around them

There was a recent trillbillies where they basically said “our leaders believe [evangelical fairytale interpretations of bible] and are leading the country based on that” and i thought about it for days and days after hearing it.

This is a big part of it, at least here in the states. Jesus is coming back like, tomorrow, so there’s no reason we should reduce profits by taking care of the planet.

Not really. I kinda just assume I’m gonna die from some completely preventable societal issue someday so that a stonkholder can get a few points on their portfolio. I’m at peace with that

That’s what happens when the selection pressure for who gets to be in high-level leadership roles is “who did the most networking at the skull and bones society”

I dunno about you guys but I’m starting to reckon we should give a little thought to alternative societal structures that might have the potential to avoid these issues…

Oh don’t worry their habitat and breeding pool has been so reduced through logging, bushfires and highway bifurcation that they’ve all got marsupial chlamydia and are going to die anyway. WAIT IS THAT A BRUMBY? PROTECT AT ALL COSTS

You’re not alone. The solution is to run for office, or so I’m told. I firmly believe that anyone who does, even with good intentions, becomes corrupt eventually.

Embrace jokerfication my friend, embrace jokerfication.

I’m not talking about all the clown world shit the right does, but looking at the fact that our overlords have decided for us that their yachts that they purchased from their ill-gotten gains are worth causing a climate crisis over. Older generations when quizzed on it, will respond with “Well, I’ll be dead before climate change effects me. I’m going to pollute because…YOLO!”
