    Yes WW1 happened because of a single incident setting off a firestorm and not due to ideologies of imperialism, militarism, monarchism, jingoistic nationalism, and the desire of the Anglo-French alliance to prevent any competitors to their global domination being confronted by Germany which felt entitled as a white nation to its share of genocidal extraction.

    I’m simply not so sure we haven’t arrived at the same place anyway. Living in deeply Maga area, we’ve had fireworks shot off all night last night, as well as people posting up on corners with flags and guns. One person in my area said they were heiled and yelled “white power” at.

    It concerns me that people are trying to downplay this situation just because the man didn’t die. I think it’s the opposite. People are feeling riled up and emboldened in a way I don’t think they would if the shooter had succeeded.

      Also living in Chudland encountering the same issue. There’s a lot of the obvious militia sorts stirring about, I kept seeing cars of them otw home, decal of this and that group. Reddit for my state vaguely had a post noting the like 3 dems and their supporters are starting to get phoned in threats from the local militias, it was quickly removed cuz reddit, but it seems my area isn’t the only one experiencing shit.

    Well he’s partly right IMO that it would have detonated all that stored resentment that reactionaries have towards the “liberal leftists” (they rarely make distinctions) and (((the elites)))
    But uhhhhh having Trump alive and able to instead further foment and concentrate it towards his political enemies is much much much worse.

    It’s like saying that a powder keg exploding is dangerous therefore we should be glad all that powder is instead in the guns of our enemies…

      because there’s no left wing in the US that currently has the infrastructure to protect marginalized people so the most likely outcome will be liberals sitting on their hands while people of color and queer people are murdered. it has the same flaw as accelerationism, we have no way to guarantee something worse won’t come out of this.
